Amber River Camp

Amber River Camp is an intimate luxury tented safari camp located on a secluded private concession in the southern region of Botswana’s Okavango Delta. Situated on an island along the main channel of the Sandididebe River, the camp offers an authentic bush experience amidst dense foliage, ensuring privacy and immersion in nature.

Accommodations

The camp features six luxurious tents, accommodating up to 12 guests. Each tent is thoughtfully positioned to offer either sunrise or sunset views and is equipped with en-suite bathrooms, outdoor bathtubs, and private viewing decks overlooking the floodplain. The tents are connected by a tree-lined walkway, enhancing the sense of seclusion and connection with the natural surroundings.

Activities

Amber River Camp provides a variety of year-round activities designed to showcase the diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife of the Okavango Delta:

  • Game Drives: Conducted twice daily, these drives explore the game-rich areas of the concession, offering opportunities to observe a wide array of wildlife in their natural habitat.

  • Walking Safaris: Guided bush walks allow guests to experience the flora and fauna up close, providing insights into the smaller details of the ecosystem and tracking wildlife on foot.

  • Mokoro Excursions: Traditional dugout canoe trips navigate the Delta’s waterways, offering a serene perspective of the aquatic landscape and its inhabitants, including exceptional birdwatching opportunities.

The camp’s location on a permanent water channel ensures that both water and land-based activities are available throughout the year, allowing guests to fully experience the unique environment of the Okavango Delta

Additional Amenities

  • Main Area: An open-air dining tent, the ‘Map Room’ lounge with a natural history library, a bar area and a fire pit, all overlooking the lagoon

  • Swimming Pool: A pool deck over the lagoon where wildlife can often be watched at a safe distance

  • Sustainability: 100% solar powered, with locally sourced décor and produce

  • Family-Friendly: Suited to families with children aged 12 and up

With only six tents and its own private island setting, Amber River Camp offers one of the most intimate safari experiences in the Okavango Delta, combining permanent-water activities with classic game viewing in a true hidden corner of the wilderness.
